MAAT TERMS OF USE

Effective Date: August 4, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Maat, a subscription-based web platform owned and operated by Sspale LLC, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Maat provides subscribers with online access to Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite imagery. The Service displays imagery of the North Polar Region and five designated European maritime regions to assist users in viewing and identifying possible ocean vessels. Imagery is sourced from the European Space Agency (ESA) Sentinel Programme. Spatial resolution is generally between 10 and 40 meters. Imagery is typically updated every one to two days but update frequency is not guaranteed and may vary due to satellite scheduling, weather, processing delays, or other factors.

3. Eligibility

Users must be at least 18 years old and use the Service only in compliance with applicable law.

4. Subscription

The subscription fee is USD 4.99 per month. New subscribers receive one free trial of seven days. Unless cancelled before renewal, subscriptions automatically renew each month. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

5. User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for safeguarding account credentials and must not misuse, scrape, reverse engineer, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service.

6. Data Sources and Accuracy

Imagery is obtained from ESA Sentinel Programme under applicable open-data terms. Sspale LLC does not modify imagery to guarantee accuracy and does not warrant completeness, availability, or correctness.

7. Important Disclaimer

Radar imagery may contain artifacts, false positives, false negatives, environmental reflections, or other anomalies. Apparent radar targets may or may not correspond to actual vessels. Sspale LLC does not represent or warrant that every radar signal or bright target is an ocean vessel. The Service is for informational and visualization purposes only and must not be relied upon for navigation, maritime safety, collision avoidance, emergency response, law enforcement, military, insurance, or regulatory decisions.

8. Intellectual Property

The software, interface, databases, trademarks, and presentation of the Service are owned by Sspale LLC. ESA/Copernicus imagery remains subject to applicable licensing.

9. Privacy

Personal information is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Payment information is handled by third-party processors.

10. Cookies

The Service may use essential, functional, and analytics cookies.

11. Termination

The Company may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sspale LLC shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages. Total liability shall not exceed the subscription fees paid during the preceding twelve months.

13. Indemnification

Users agree to indemnify Sspale LLC against claims arising from misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

14. Force Majeure

The Company is not responsible for interruptions caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
